Armaments Center Innovation
DEVCOM Armaments Center employees were named in 489 patents from 2010 to 2024 and in numerous others going back decades. These innovations involve a multitude of scientific disciplines, either directly related to armaments or in support the Armaments Center mission. Under the Federal Technology Transfer Act, these patents and other federally funded inventions from basic and applied research are available to the private sector or industry for new product development and sales to benefit private industry and the overall public interest. Patent license agreements are one of the tools used by the government to make these innovations available to industry.
Armaments Center Patents Involve a Multitude of Scientific Disciplines

By signing a patent license agreement from a federal laboratory, a business or licensee is granted the right to manufacture or use that invention in their commercial products, which prevents others without a license from legally doing the same. In turn, for this benefit, the licensee agrees to pay negotiable financial terms, which may include an upfront execution fee, an annual minimum royalty, and a running royalty percentage of sales and other fees as appropriate. The licensee also agrees to develop the invention into a commercial product at its own expense following their own timetable and milestones determined at the time of application. Armaments Center inventions available for licensing are listed by a partnership intermediary. Please follow the link below:
